Chile: What about our gender role?

"My name is Stella, I am 32 years old, and I am looking for a job".

We have to be honest: Stella its going to have problems to find a job here-in Chile-, because she is in the perfect age to have babies, so, that means she is going to ask  for licence a lot of times,because she will need to stay in her house  taking care of her baby. The employeer can imagine that situation, so, he is going to preffer a men for a job.

Nowadays, everybody says that woman have more oportunities in laborals and rights aspects, and that is true. We can go to college and we can work as an engineer or a doctor if we want to. 

Also, women who work  all day and have a family, they have to keep clean the house,take care the kids and cook dinner. They asume this work because men are lazy, and also because society say it. We think that this behavior its natural and appropiate.

In our country, law are equals for everybody, but in other countrys like Afganistan or Iran women can´t show her faces, they can´t speak with other man or work.

I think that quality between men and women is possible, everyone should work for this, we have to educate our children teaching that women an men are aquals, that women can work and man can clean the house. If we start from the begging we can change ideas like men are more capable or intelligent than women.

My favorite piece of technology

I think that favorite piece of technology is my iPod. My mom gives me my iPod two Christmas ago; it was a surprise for me, because I thought that my gift was only money for travel with my friends that holidays. My mother gives me because this piece of technology it’s better than a simply mp3, It is made with stronger materials that resists blows and falls.

I use my iPod for listening music, surfing on the internet, play some games, check my e-mail, use calculator, read the news and write some important dates or any information. I am always with my iPod because I often use it, for example, when I come to the university I listen some music or when I’m in the gym, I make exercises listening music.

I like it because it’s a very complete piece of technology, it has many applications to use, and always entertain me. It works like a computer, but it is smaller than a computer, so it is more comfortable for carry in your bag. It weighs less than a computer and complete similar functions.

The fact that this is my favorite piece of technology doesn’t mean that I can’t leave without it.  For me, all the material things don’t have the same importance of others things in life, like a friend, the family or even enjoy outdoor.

What is a friend?

The meaning of friend is different for every person. 
For me a friend is somebody who is always  with you, for example when you have a problem or if you are sad you can ask him for help or support.
Everybody needs a friend, because everybody needs to be listened and share our experiences and also have fun.

In my life, I have a lot of good friends,  but most of them are  very far because they live in different cities. Before I came to the university, I was living in Los Angeles, a small city in the south of Chile.I spend a lot of time with my friends since I was little, we grew up togheter, they are like family to me. I am always worried about  them and we talk by phone or e-mails all the time.

Here in Santiago I have some good friends that I meet in the university, and they are very important to me just like my old friends.

Friendship gets stronger with time.It turns unbreakable.

You can know a lot of people, but there not all your closer friends. A friend it’s someone special that you choose for share your good and bad moments.

Hello.

My name is Julieta Carreño, I`m 19 years old.

I`m in second year of Public Administration in Universidad de Chile.

I was born in Los Angeles (VIII region), I grew up there until I came to Santiago to study in college.

I really like this city because there are a lot of things to do everyday. Sometimes I like shopping,other days I go out with my friends, Saturdays I visit my aunt, and also I love to visit different places of the city.

Sometimes I am babysitter of my nephew named Martin. He is very funny and he loves Pocoyo.


My favourite series are "Glee" and "Brothers & Sisters" and my favourite movie is "Walk in the line".


Well, with this blog i hope improve my english and learn more. Its a funny way.
